Only One

Some of y'all have read this, because I posted it on a blog that is mostly for writing - but it's kind of funny, so I thought I would repost it here:

Tonight I was reading the twins a Bible story, the one about Jacob marrying Leah and Rachel. It was a very "G" rated version of this story of course. The children's version focused on God's love for Leah, and how he created everyone to be beautiful and special and to glorify Him.

As I was tucking Isaac into his bed afterward, he suddenly said "There can't be two Mama's!" He said it in a "come on, give me a break" kinda way. He went on to say, "Daddy wouldn't marry two Mama's!" I said "Yes, that would be silly, wouldn't it? God just wants us to marry one person." Isaac agreed, sounding very perplexed, " yeah, that would be weird."

Then he held up one of his little fingers and said confidently, "There is only One True God, and there is only one Mama."

I like his reasoning.

28

I'm 28 today. I don't really have any feelings about turning 28, I guess. I have a lot to be thankful for. I am so grateful to have Joe and Savannah and Isaac. Savannah's been asking me what I want for my birthday - she has some odds and ends she likes, stashed in her top drawer.  She asked me the other day "Mama, do you want anything from my top drawer for your birthday?" She is so sweet.

We snapped this pic this morning before heading off to lunch at Chick-fil-a. Not the best picture of me, but it could be worse. ;)
28 years and counting.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Thursday!

P.S. Just finished "The Hunger Games" series. If you haven't read these books, READ THEM.

:)

P.S.S. I had a senior moment today (or should I say a "mommy" moment?) - Savannah drew me a birthday picture and I decided to write the date on it, since it was so special. Then I caught myself looking at my cell phone to remember what day it is.

Yep. : /

But really y'all, just read "The Hunger Games."

Cell Phone Pictures

We've been out enjoying some beautiful weather this week, but unfortunately I haven't taken many pictures!
Here are a couple of cute ones I took with my phone this morning:

We were at a new coffee shop that opened today. They liked it so much Savannah said we should go everyday! Ha! That probably had something to do with the strawberry cupcake she ate and mostly the fact that her Aunt Kimberly works there.

The twins have such funny conversations. Last night we were at the walking track, and after they tired themselves out running around, I let them get in the stroller for the rest of the walk. Savannah turned to Isaac and said "I'm the fastest runner! Faster than anybody!" To which Isaac replied, "No you're not, Vanna. BUT you are even much faster than me!" Savannah seemed very flattered by this and said "Thank you Isaac!" And Isaac answered, as though bestowing a great kindness, "You're welcome, Vanna!"

This may not seem very funny in the retelling, but to me it was funny and kind of impressive. I felt like my small lectures about manners might be sinking in.

Of course when Isaac sticks his fingers in his nose I am reminded that we still have a long way to go. Oh well.

I hope everyone is having a great Friday!

This is in front of an old (closed) store window in my Mama's hometown, Inverness MS:

Just thought it was cute!

Happy Thursday!

Grandpa

This is my Dad and the twins. When I was a kid I informed nearly everyone I met (proudly): "my daddy's a truck driver!" I thought his big truck was very exciting and that his routes must be fun adventures.
Now I have kids, and they think that his Big Truck is very wonderful and interesting.

And they LOVE their Grandpa. :)

So, a few days ago he stopped by and let them look at the 18 wheeler up close. They were very excited! This is a picture from the bed, right behind the driver's seat:
Doesn't this look like a proud Grandpa?

I love you Dad!
